Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 74 datsun 620 pickup that the
brakes aren't working.  I have replaced the
brake shoes all the way around, and wheel
cylinders.  Also the master brake cylinder.
Even the brake check valve. The brake
pedal is hard as a rock, buy have no
stopping power. If it is the booster will a car
one work and what year?

sounds like a power booster failure to me. the only time the pedal should be hard is when the engine's off. if you've had a fluid leak at the rear cylinder seal, it can work its way into the booster. sometimes the pedal goer hard, sometimes it pulsates and does stupid things. trust me, i've had it happen twice in a 180b I owned. you'll probably find that some different models have the same booster.
