Key reader

It depends what model Bantam. With the earlier Rocam model Bantams the key reader is the bridge between the Key and the Computer Box. The signal is taken from the transponder in the key, 'bounces' off the Lock Barrel steel ring and is read by the key reader. From ther the key reader sends the signal to the Computer Box. With the Newer Euro 2 Computer Box, The Keys are coded to the key reader first, once this is done they are coded to the Computer box and the vehicle will start.

Hi my 2005 rocam just cut out in the drive an dnt want 2 swing but wen i try starting it manually by the starter it just swings .i check there is no spark an fule

Sounds like a Computer Box problem. When you switch the ignition to ON, The LED next to the clock must come on for two seconds and then go out. Does this LED flash quickly, or not come ON and all or does it come on and stay ON. We repair these computer Boxs called PCMs. We are based in Elardus Park , Pretoria East. I have a ford bantam rocam 2008 1.3i I put in a new battery cr2032 suddenly does not work.

Is this the remote lock and unlock battery. The same battery that is used for some bathroom scales. Normally the remote for the lock & Unlock has a non volitile memory and does not loose its code. To code this system, switch the ignition on and off four times, there will be a sound from the central locking unit. Hold one of the buttons IN until the unit makes a sound, them try and lock and unlock the doord with the remote.

Yes for the Bantam 2002 to 2007, which have eight pin connectors . Not for the Bantams from 2008 to 2012 models which have seven pin connectors.

If its the Euro 2 system (2008 to 2012) the keys need to be coded to the Key reader first, then the system codes the computer box. The earlier units like the Ikon and the Fiesta with the Rocam's the keys are coded to the computer box.
