Question type: General

My 2001 PT Cruiser has 208,000 miles and recently the oil sensor has been coming on after driving for about 20 minutes. The oil light only comes on while stopped at a light and idling around 900 rpms. Where is the oil sending unit located and how much does this part cost and can I purchase at one of the more popular auto part stores?

What it seems like to me is that when the oil warms up you lose oil pressure. Which could mean that the oil pump is worn out. You may try a higher weight oil to see if it improves, but at over 200,000 miles the oil pump might be the culprit.

Sorry I forgot something my PT cruiser 2005 what worked for me I took the gas cap off replaced the fuel.pump relay and the ASD relay and it started had to drive it about 70 miles for the light to stay off after all was cleared this works for new 02 sensors as well to get the light to stay off. Pay it forward please Chrysler won't tell you this they point you to PCU... in some cases it may be PCU but not all I find it hard to believe. Hope it works!
