how do i officail know if i have crankwalk?

What makes you think you have it? I am also guessing you didn't read up at v-faq like everyone tells people new to DSM to do: www.v-faq.com Go to the DSM pages and read up! Its one huge part of being a DSM'er There is a page with the telltale signs of crank walk. Honestly, crankwalk is mostly propaganda used by the honda crowd. Only 35% of seven bolt engines actually have crankwalk issues, and usually it takes place before 35k miles on the clock. Alot of people confuse a bad cylinder in the clutch for crankwalk, as it makes the clutch feel "awkward" or "different"
the noise may car makes sounds just like clips people have posted about cw. and the clutch feels normal when i engage it.
When you turn left does the clutch feel weird? Like squishes to the floor? If not, its more than likely not crankwalk, and possibly lifter/valve tick. Try using some fuel system cleaner in it (buy it at auto zone/ any auto part store) and it may reduce/eliminate the noise you hear. If your real paranoid about it you could pull the head off one weekend an see (but you will have to replace the head gasket). If you do have it, the crank will be clearly able to slide back and forth in its place. Take a Flathead screwdriver and GENTLY near the end where it goes into the side, attempt to slide it. If it slides, that's crankwalk. If not, your good. You can always take it to your local Mitsubishi dealership and have the tech look at it. It will be EXPENSIVE, trust me, but if you are real worried, it may be worth it. And is your engine the 4g63 right? if you have the 420a, i am almost positive it isn't crankwalk.
I have the 4g63 and ill try that fuel system cleaner. because i already replaced the lifters with the revised ones and that made the sound go way down. hopefully this helps. thanks.
Easy. The crank should only move .007 of an inch back and forth. If it moves more than that then it is crankwalking. Reach under there and slam the crank one way with your hand. Put a dial indicator on it and slide it back. That how you measure. All these other post are a waste of time! DONT POST HELPING PEOPLE IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed Just wanted to add you can use feeler gauges if you don't have a dial gauge available.
