check under the seat to see if when you move the release lever, the wire that connects to the release on the opposite side is working. wire may be stretched or broken. this would be a good time to see if anything under the seat has it jammed.

I am having the same problem with my front passenger seat. Have you found the problem? Any solutions? The rod seams to be doing what it is supposed to do but there is obviously something stopping the seat from moving back.

Did you ever figure that out? Mine won’t slide back and I can’t figure out why.

I know what's wrong but I spent 5 min typing answer only to have it not save when I hit send.

Ok, that answer saved. Both my front Eurovan seats have same problem. And bench seat did too. Its probably loose screws that loosen over time and fall into tracks. Use a flashlight to look in seat tracks. You will see the screws.

I took bench seat apart, found screw, and removed it. Fixed it! But having trouble getting at screws stuck in front seat tracks. I can see them but cant figure out how to separate seat from track. I use a metal BBQ skewer to lift up on screw head while pulling seat back to unstick. But as soon as seat hose all the way forward - stuck again!:
