How long did the Chevrolet Corvette have an in-line 6 engine?

Since I made the answer above I found out they also made about 75 in-line sixes in 1955 also, but from then on they have the V-8s.

Correct. In 1955 the OHV Small Block V8 was introduced in 265ci. The leftover Blue Flame Six engines were installed in some early 55 models and when they were gone, the Corvette was to be a V8 powered sports car at least until 2015, hopefully it will never change.
