1957-66 Corvette acronym "PFI". What does it mean? I believe it has to do with fuel injection?
On a corvette poster that covers the years of 53-90 it provided each years specs, production, etc and the fuel system each size motor was issued. E.I. 1x4BBL or 2x4BBL; under the years of 57-66 instead of F.I. for fuel injection or RFI for Ramjet Fuel Injection, the acronym of "PFI" appears. I have looked in a 57 corvette book that i have and this PFI acronym DOES NOT appear. My question is what does PFI stand for?

I believe it stands for programable fuel injection.
It is claimed that Chevrolet Corvette fuel injection began around 1957 on the 283 c.i. V8 1965 Chevrolet Corvette FI (fuel injection) unit see pic... ** P F I ** A type of fuel injection with at least one injector mounted in the intake port(s) of each cylinder. Usually the injector is mounted on the air intake manifold close to the port. Port fuel injection improves fuel distribution and allows greater flexibility in intake-manifold design, which can contribute to improved engine breathing. ** T P I ** Tuned Port Injection (TPI) was the new thing in 1984. Maximum horsepower reached 205 with the previous CFI (Cross-Fire injection), but the new TPI came in with a bang at 230 horsepower. . ** RFI ** WELL check out this page ..... http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.zorly.com/images_corvette/09-16-08/Ram%2520Jet%2520350%2520from%2520GM%2520Performance%2520Parts.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.corvette.zorly.com/2008/09/electronic-fuel-injection-evolution-on.html&usg=__wCJsIodBDE9IUi1jJMNeX7_6E8g=&h=379&w=350&sz=25&hl=en&start=2&um=1&tbnid=WDVaOZ2S7WRz-M:&tbnh=123&tbnw=114&prev=/images%3Fq%3DRamjet%2BFuel%2BInjection%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1
