Peeling stick shift?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Has anyone had the experience of the stick shift peeling?  The silver material that covers the stick shift has begun to peel.  It actually deeply cut my finger when it started.  How does one repair this?

i work at a hyundai dealership and have seen a couple come in with this complaint. simply take it to the dealer and they will replace the shifter knob for you. its covered for 5 years 60,000 miles

Thanks - I did just that. They had to order the shifter knob, of course. But they are replacing it with no probs.
