if i vehicle states "reported theft" how does that affect the buyer? as far as getting a loan for the purchase? or later down the road possibly trading or selling?

You should not buy a stolen vehicle. That makes you guilty of receiving stolen property! Report it to carfax and they WILL investigate it and get back to you. I've done this before. It's usually a mistake, but you never know! It costs nothing to report it to carfax. So you have nothing to lose! Hope that helps! Jim
