Question type: Maintenance & Repair

97 GMC extcan sb ss, 350, auto. Bought truck last year. recently had a cat
code come up, had scanned and is bank 2, told i need a new cat but could
keep driving it. well lately it has pick up a big prob. She does'nt always start,
if she does start sometimes runs like a top other times it's chokin and
sputterin and dies and I smell gas. Today it stalled in the middle of an
intersection and had to push it home.  Any ideas? will the cat do all this?
need advice please as this is my daily driver.

A plugged up cat will make your car barely run. Have it tested at a muffler shop. Fix any misfires as a poorly running engine will ruin a new cat.

Now to add to my issues. Cleaned out cats, good air flow now but the problems persisit. started truck, dies 1/2 block from house and wont restart ( cranks but seems no spark ) so it sits up the street from house with a now dead battery. Noticed I have a fuel build up just to right of TB housing in a boxed off area. Think this is part of the fuel meter body assembly, has 2 small pipes on top . What would cause this to happen? think it is part of problem
