What kind of transmission does a Suzuki vitara have?

Both came with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic, with shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive optional with any combination. While the upscale Grand Vitara lived to see another generation, the regular Suzuki Vitara led one lifetime spanning from 1999-2004
I know the automatic transmission is a Toyota version, but I don't know which Toyota.
I own a 2004 regular vitara with automatic transmission. I have compare with other vitaras and the trans is different from all other I have seen from previous years. Its the same as in the Grand vitara 2005 and XL7 200? because I have compared them. Can someone confirm this for me? I am looking for a trans as we speak and would like to know what other models/years, if any, have the same trans to help me find one.
why suzuki automatic gear box has a problem of gear engaging
Somewhat related to OP, I'm searching for the specific model of automatic transmission for the Suzuki Grand Vitara 2005 so that I can identify parts and repair needs. 40K miles on mine and upon returning from a month long trip, the trans began slipping on steep inclines, a week later and I can't make it up the slightest hill. High rpm and very little delivered power in the 2nd and 3rd gears. Can someone help me identify the model of transmission? I've found the newer Vitaras used a 5-speed automatic transmission ( TB-50LS ) however I can't find the specific model of the earlier 4-speed auto trans W/OD. Any info or links to help would be greatly appreciated.
