I would try to add Miracle Mystery oil to the crank case and gasoline. It is available in most auto part stores.

the '77 Buick 350 was very prone to lifter float. Due to a new shallow sump oil pan. even a slight overfill would allow the oil level to come in contact with the crankshaft causing foaming and loss of oil in the lifters. As with the other answer Marvel will help, but over filling the oil system is the culprit. I had a '77 225 with the same problem every oil change I did created he same problem.
