what make a 2003 Buick Rendezvous cut off when I put it in drive, but it runs in reverse

the fuel pump when out, I replace it and then replaced the fuel filter. the truck will run in
reverse but cuts off ever time I try to put it in drive. What can the problem be.

This is a transmission issue.
