Question in South Georgia about 1984 Buick Oldsmobile

I have a 1984 Buick Oldsmobile delta 88, an every time I go crank it it will not start right
away.  I have to actually mash on the gas for it start.  What do you suppose my
problem is.  Alvin 1966 if you can what's my problem brother.  I'd appreciate it.

If car runs alright after you get it started,it may be bad coil,clogged fuel filter,or weak fuel pump.

I can only guess that after the vehicle starts it performs ok. I agree with the previous poster..first check to ensure there is no clogged fuel filters and do check to determine the performance of the fuel pump. That year vehicle should have a distributor and inside there you will located the coil. SEMPER FI Marine and GOOD LUCK.

Say Marine... Js08016 suggestion(s) is right on. I do guess the vehicle has a carb. and after sitting for a while gas would leak causing the bowl float to leak down.

It actually runs good once I get it started. I just thought there was a problem with it doing this. I appreciate the input though fellows all responses were helpful. Thanks again! Christopher, Semper FI
