Best Highlander model/year?

I'm looking into used Toyota Highlanders.  We need 4WD and a 3rd row of
seats, but I'm not sure which year was the best model.  It looks like many
models had a variety of issues.  Is there a year that was exceptional or, on the
contrary, should be avoided?

The 2016 Highlander is ranked No. 1 in midsize SUVs rankings. The Highlander and Highlander Hybrid have received top scores and rankings over the ten years they’ve been reviewed. The Highlander also ranks well in used midsize SUV rankings.
