Question type: General

About a week ago the Maint Reqd like started blinking when I started up the truck. Yesterday morning the Check Engine light came on as well. What are any problems that could/might be related to the check engine light? I found out in the book for the vehicle that the Maint Reqd comes on when the oil needs to be changed.

That's correct, the "Maintenance Required" is an oil change reminder. That's all. Unrelated to the CEL. But your question, there are literally hundreds of reasons the CEL could be lit. A fault has been detected by the OBDII system and it needs to be scanned to pinpoint what fault. Many parts houses will scan if free for you. You will get a code that is PXXXX..four numbers. Say your gas cap is loose, the most common reason the CEL comes on the code will be P0440
