gradual loss of power, no spark at plugs

Asked by sietzer Jan 30, 2011 at 10:25 PM about the Toyota Tercel

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Experienced a gradual loss of power over two days, untill the car stopped running all together. Replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and ignition module. Not getting any spark at the plugs. Good battery, plugs are properly gapped. Do I replace the distributor itself? Or is it something obvious I'm missing?

Did you check the wires that power the ignition module?

Trace the wires from the ignition module that don't go to the distributor and check for any visible damage. If there isn't any check them with a multi-meter.

He stated he put a new module on it,so that will not be the problem.

The wiring to the module could be bad, or a wiring fault could damage the module itself.
