Car won't start

Asked by Slim69 Feb 19, 2018 at 05:17 AM about the Ford Contour

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I got a 2000 ford contour with a 2.0 4 banger
and I had to change the serpentine belt and
the serpentine tensioner pulley and the idler
pulley then the next day my wife went out to
start it and it ran for about 15 min and when
she went back out to leave she turned on the
heat and nothing and when she turned on
the heater the lights came on then the lights
started to get dim and she turned it off now
it won't start any suggestions

Check the belt routing as Tom suggested. Also check to see if an idler pulley, a/c compressoror other pulley is locked up and not turning.

How old is the battery? Did you run a voltage check on the battery? Should be over 12.0 volts. How are the battery connections? Are they free of corrosion, absolutely clean and tight?
