Steering - ford excursion

What would be causing this? There is a popping noise when I make a left or right turn. It's not always but it is frequent.. It's coming from the Tie rod area from what I can tell.. I had a 4" Fab Tech Lift kit installed by 4Wheel Parts a few years ago - and the alignment has never been the same. This is a 2WD Excursion with a V10 - with the Bank Complete Power Pack kit installed. My local Tire Shop that I've purchased all my tires from cannot do the alignment because of the size of the vehicle. So I've taken to one of their other locations that can - and they claim they cannot get the alignment totally true because of the lift kit! incorrectly installed! something about the brackets being drilled incorrectly. Therefore - I took the Excursion back to 4 Wheel Parts and explained what I had been told! They had me drop of my vehicle and called me later to inform me that the (Right Tie Rod) was bad! as well as the Drag Link (Replaced) cost $493.11 - Much to my surprise - the vehicle is still doing the same thing - Making the popping noise - The vehicle has only 73K miles on it - and I am the original owner. My local tire shop installed the new tires back in 2009 at mileage 68000 miles - and did a front end alignment - as best the could. They did not report anything needing replacement.. I think that the recent repairs where not needed.
I agree with you on that,I am licended to line front ends, never had a problem with lift kits, sounds like it may be a ball joint poping or a loose wheel bearing.
I have a popping ttat comes from the front sway bar link bushing. It has been a pain for years. I finally replaced it, but the replacement only lasted about 18 months. Replaced again, but the noise is starting again, less than 4 mos later.
make sure the sway bar is not bent,if so it will weare out the bushings, quickly.
