Cargurus Pricing Issues

Asked by Tim Feb 05, 2019 at 02:46 PM about the Ford Explorer

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I am finding that most of the pricing ratings by Cargurus is wrong.  Their
whole system is flawed.  They have no idea what the condition of the vehicle
is.  Condition makes a huge impact on pricing.  A vehicle in below average
condition is never a Great Deal.  Neither is one with severe hail damage,
bad history report or smells like smoke.  I have looked at over 100 vehicles
that were rated Good or Great deals and none of them actually were.
Cargurus.com also does not take vehicle options into consideration.  I
looked at  2 Ford Explorer Limiteds.  One with no extra options and one that
had every extra option and was probably $10,000 more when new.  The
pricing showed the basic one as fair deal and the one with every option as
high priced even though it was only $400 more.  Really...who would not pay
$400 for Navigation, Panoramic Moon Roof, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear
Bucket Seats, 20 inch Chrome Wheels, Active Braking and a whole bunch of
other things.....Anyone else seeing these flaws?

Good is a matter of opinion. Options do matter and this is taken into account. I have no doubt that sellers tend to be a bit optimistic about condition.
