Starter cranks with key off.

I've put on a new starter, solenoid, key switch & ignition switch on my 1980 ford F150.
I've looked for bad wiring. Took off the small starter wire off the solenoid, starter still
keeps engaging. The engine will start, but the starter stills keeps engaging. Have to
take the ground off to get it to stop. Don't know what else it could be, unless I've
gotten a bad part. Any suggestions? It has the straight 6, with a manual transmission.

double check how you have the wiring on the solenoid. It sounds like you have something on wrong

On those old fords you can jump start the car from the solenoid by crossing the poles which results in the same problem you are experiencing. Check the wiring at the solenoid on the fender well, something is not correct there.
