M is for manual shifting. On your gear selector there should be a + and a - to manually shift the transmission. If you don't want to mess with it just leave it in drive. Leave the traction control on.

Is it that hard to figure out? The truck is a 10speed auto and only has PRNDM You should be able to put it in gear and tell it doesn’t shift and use the power of deductive reasoning if you refuse to open your owners manual

Draginbyu is a boob. If you don't have an owners manual, then you come here for answers. That's true deductive reasoning, something Draginbyu is missing. Deductive reasoning does not equal truth. It's better to ask questions about what you don't know instead of just jumping feet first with a vehicle that is machined and tuned to use flammable gas as it's fuel source.

Draginbyu is what we call a peckerhead.

Draginbyu has it wrong. It's not PRNDM. It's PRNDM21, and that where the confusion lies. So Draginbyu is still a jerk. And more thanks to TransAm77 for being a good guy.

Couldn't find it in the manual so thanks again. We figured it was "manual" but it doesn't hurt to be certain. Peace out ya'll

Thank you for answering it’s freezing cold outside here! I like getting answers, spirit of the moment, off the internet! Do not wish to retrieve the manual at this time, it’s outside! FYI: Draginbyu can’t be all wrong, l rented a Ford 150 this week and it only has a PRNDM, No 1 or 2 after it?

Why would I think I have a 10 speed transmission if it only shows 6 gears on the display?
