Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1972 Ford F150 truck with v-8 360 engine with three speed manual transmission seems to be too high geared on take off. What is the recommended gear ratio?

That all depends on what you use the truck for - hauling and towing or just commuting. How is it out on the highway? Do you have a tachometer and if so what is the engine speed a 60 mph? If it were my truck I would look into a 4 or 5 speed conversion.

I think the rear end has been changed out. Sometimes I have to double clutch it to take off on a hill or something, Without having to change out the transmission, what else might you suggest?
