I have a 1990 Ford F250 with a 460. Will this engine fit in my 1997 Ford F250 with a 460?

Yes, I believe it will. Im not sure about the knock sensor or the crank sensor. Im sure it would be an easy job too aside from the time consuming job of part swapping and sensor swapping. If both are EFI then for sure it will fit.

The only major thing to pay attention to with 460 engines are the dates of manufacture. Early models up to???1978??? or so, used internally balanced crankshafts and use flywheel or flexplates for those years. Later models use a hevy add on weight behind the vibration dampener and a hefty chunk of metal on flexplates and appropriate flywheels for those years. If you make a mistake between the 2 and you start it up but it shakes excessively(oh yes you will notice it!!) then you mismatched front balance weight or wrong balanced parts at rear of engine. Swap em out.

you cant simply use the balance weight on front of engine and then use the older balanced flywheel.....will vibrate!!!!! use year specific parts!!!!! engine blocks are identical. Crankshafts...different.
