My 1986 F 250 had steering wheel replaced before in my possession and the
replacement is not oem.  Blinker is working however the front turn signals do
not.  can I short the front left to rear left signal wire under the dash?  Trying to
avoid pulling the steering wheel.

No. Your brake lights are wired through the turn signal switch. Shorting the wires will make the front signals come on when you step on the brake pedal. Hope that helps! Jim

As soon as I get a new turn signal switch since I suspect the previous repair is at fault.

You're welcome. Glad to help! I ran into a similar problem with my 94 Fleetwood. Someone else had been in the steering column before me and the brake lights weren't working correctly. It's not too difficult a job. Just remember to disconnect the negative battery cable before you start. Jim
