1996 Ford Festiva won't start

My Festiva would turn over but not start.  If I squirted fuel into the throttle
body, the car would start and run for a few seconds.  I replaced the fuel
pump with a brand new unit, and the car started and ran immediately.
After driving about 40 km, I parked the car overnight.   The next day, car
would not start, same symptoms as before, fuel pump appears to be not
working although new.

it could be a bad interia switch, it's located in the rear cargo area on the passenger side, there will be a little hole in the support beam in that hole is the switch. it's a small hatch behind the driver's seat in the area of the fuel filler. Pushing that button resets the switch. It's also connected to airbag systems on some cars if it isn't there then you are going to have to follow the fuel pump power wiring until you find the switch.

Which side? You said passenger side, then, a small hatch behind driver's seat. I looked on both sides, found a small hatch on left side, but nothing inside. This car doesn't have airbags fitted. Did you copy that, I think I read that same answer on a forum from some years ago? Further testing suggests no power getting to the pump.
