can i take the 17" from a 2005 Ford 500 Sedan and put them on a 2008 Ford
Escape which has 16" tires on it & have it be safe to drive?

I doubt it will work. There are two ways to find out. Try them on or look up the wheel and tire specs and compare them.

Thank you I worked in an auto parts store only we did not sell tires just hub caps. I sold those wheel hubs but no rims or tires. Now that being said I am familiar enough with my tires that i have had on vehicles over the years i am no stranger to a Solid Raised White Letters 235/60R16's I had on a 1974 Ford Thunderbird, body looked like crap but i had a rebuilt engine with same damn nice tires on it. Only today I have a mobility issue and cannot not do as much with my vehicles as I used to. So you just got me back into the frame of the Tire Specs and Wheels. And a place to start. Because just from looking at it they look like such a width difference I don't see how they are going to work. I still have my eyes. LOL Thanks
