* "Check Engine" light on?

i would take to a parts store so they can scan it before it does become an issue most of the time the scanning can be free
go to autozone. they will do a check for free and tell you what you need to fix
Check your fuel cap.... If it is not properly screwed on you will get a check engine light. It may not go off until you drive it a bit then shut it off and next time you run it should be off.. Happened on my wifes 06 taurus and on my 99 old's silhoutte van...

Running on low grade fuel can foul up the O2 sensor, and cause this to happen as well.
Too much Ethanol in a non Flex will do that too. They'll tolerate 40% w/o a problem. Over that it thinks it's lean.
Could be a myriad of reasons. Sensors fail, gas caps aren't sealing properly, a small misfire that can go unnoticed... Just head to your local autozone and they'll tell you what the code is and means.
gona tell u same as rest of yas with those be happy cuz ur lucki ur goin anyware im a mec hanic n let me tell u hahalol scrap it .or demo
I HAVE A 07 TAURUS, THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, AND WHILE I DRIVE WHENEVER I BRAKE OR MAKE A STOP, THE ENGINE TURNS OFF AND I NEED TO RESTART THE CAR OVER AND OVER.
Thanks for the info about how helpful Auto Zone could be but don't believe a word of it!! I took the car to Auto Zone a couple of miles up the road from where I live. Not ONE employee was wearing a mask, one kept hugging people and there were flexiglass protectors at 2 of the 6 or 7 cashiers. When I explained that my engine light came on I was told they could loan me the tool and I could check it for myself but otherwise they couldn't help me. Guess I'm just not going to be doing much driving until I can get the car into my mechanic in a week. Thumbs down on Auto Zone!!!!!
