Why would my Ford Thunderbird not accelerate from 20-25 but rev really high, sporadically. When it's "hanging" sometimes it catches then accelerates just fine.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car occasional will "hang" between 20-25, and not accelerate. While it's doing this the engine revs really high. It's almost like it catches and then will be ok.

Had this problem in my 06 Chevrolet Impala. First thing first is check your transmission fluid levels. I had a leak in mine and promptly had to constantly refill it. If the problem persists the bands/clutches in your transmission might be worn.
