Does the engine have to be removed to change the clutch in my 1988 subaru justy rs 4wd?

I was born in 1988 so needless to say I havent worked on anything that old haha. Ive never had to take the motor out on anyhting to put a clutch in, only the transmission.

you could pull the motor to do it but It would be much easier to drop the transmission to do it.
