2019 Subaru Legacy Tranmission Issue

First off, your car is not a lemon. A lemon is a vehicle that goes into the shop at few times for the same complaint and the dealer can not fix that issue. so the Subaru will authorize a buyback Subaru is doing you a favor in replacing the transmission if it indeed is the cause for the issue. I had a friend with a similar issue and had a replacement CVT and they are fine. In almost all cases, they will not replace a vehicle with another, always repair. Have the transmission replaced and if you still don't like it, sell it for something else.

I've not seen "rattley" CVTs in 2015+ Leg/OBs, but if SOA will swap in a new one it must be a bad internal bearing or similar. The odds of having it have twice are essentially nil. Just accept the swap. You'll be ok, as it's a straight-forward job. (Just did one on a 20913 last week). The CVT operates quite discretely, so a defective one won't cause peripheral problems. Just accept the free CVT and relax a bit.

I think it’s best to file a report with the state and/or feds about the issue. At least they have a heads up on what is going on. Something like this should not be happening on a vehicle that is less than 2 years old. I have been reviewing reports online and it seems that this is an ongoing issue.

I think the best thing to do is to report this problem to the State and the Feds. It seems that this is Reoccurring issue with Subaru. It is wrong for consumers to be dupped into buying something that is not trustworthy and may not be safe. Imagine the transmission goes while you are trying to merge on the highway. No check engine light appeared at all. The only thing that existed was strange noise. Hmm.

Obviously you want to make a federal case out of it even though Subaru is installing a new transmission at no cost to you. Yes it should not have happened but this is why Subaru provides a warranty. A certain percentage of the best car ever made will end up having some faults which is why there are warranties.

Your right about warranties. Moreover, what guarantee do I have the the vehicle will not fall apart in the next few months. What piece of mind do I have that this would be safe ? Probably none. That would become a bigger issue if someone gets hurt if there is some type of fault. I will not be in the margin of error for a car that is not even two yrs old. The company has been given there options !

Your warranty will still be in effect for several years. If you want assurance that you will never have car problems again I cannot help you. You cannot give the company any options. It is they who control the whole process. Obviously you have no confidence in the car. Perhaps you should trade it in on a Toyota or a Lexus for your peace of mind.

I do suggest a Subaru factory extended warranty. I had one for my 2015 Forester and it was a good thing I did.

OTOH the "factory" warranty has been extended to 100k for both the motor and the CVT. I had a maternal grandfather named Hector. Indeed, he was an angry, mean man....
