2.5XT Outback or 3.6 Outback?

I'm looking to buy an outback for mountain roads/dirt roads in the Santa Cruz
area, that are often slick and rainy in the winter. I liked driving my friends 05
outback, but I am looking for something with a little more power than the 2.5i
engine. I've heard the turbo versions of the 05-09 variety can be a liability
when it comes to maintenance costs. How risky is it buying one with 1 owner
and 120k miles? What sort of things can I expect to deal with in regards to
problems with the 2.5xt Outbacks? Should I go for a 4th gen Outback with a
3.6 instead?
