Hey hope to get some help with my outback ok i have a 2003 2.5L sohc engine is bad I found a 2.5L out of a baja sohc but it has the variable valve timing was told it would work ??

installed the engine with a new timing belt and my intake  engine wont start  
no spark  and code po340 for cam sensor  is the sensor the same with this
variable valve crap??

So you installed a variable valve engine? But yours was not? No i do not believe the sensors are interchangeable. When you set up the timing belt which vehicle engine illustration did you use?

There is NO DOUBT in my mind that you will require the ECM to match the engine and there is a good chance you will also need to match the wiring harness. Best of luck, just be glad it's not a Ford Focus the key also has to match the ECM!
