Best Subaru Wagon to buy

Asked by Mary May 19, 2018 at 03:00 PM about the Subaru Outback

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I am 70 years old. I just sold my 1999 Legacy Brighton Wagon and now want
another Subaru.
Cutting to the chase...What wagon is best to buy for around $10,000 with
what mileage. How do you find out the FB and EJ stuff?

One thing to keep in mind, if the mileage is anywhere near 70k, be sure the timing belt, tb components like tensioner and gears, and water pump have been replaced, if it hasn't been done yet figure approx $1000 into the price of the car to have it done. Subaru's are very particular about that. They'll last forever as long as that service isn't overlooked

If it were me I would buy a late model SOHC car with the automatic transmission, not a CVT. A low mile 2009 or so is what I would be looking for.

Listen, you're 70.... take the $10,000 and use that as a deposit on one of these...this is a fantastic review... otherwise get a Toyota Venza.. really wonderful alternative to the Subaru Outback..it's hard to beat a Toyota... https://youtu.be/qvkfrVvTiBk
