Me Convertible interior light door switch
Can anyone direct me to the interior light activation switch on the door, it seems not to be in the usual place adjacent the hinges.
The interior light is staying on and the alarm will not set to alarm because it thinks the doors are open. Cheers Geezer

sounds like a wiring issue, some of the sensors are in the door itself. try pulling the fuse. what model BMW do you have?
Hi Casper I have an E36 M3 Convertable, when you say the sensors are in the door can you be a little more specific thanks Geezer
I have noticed over the last few years the car manufacters have stoppped using "pins". some manufacters have used "soild state" connectors (if you look in the door you will see 4 brass connecters" or manufacters have intergrated it into the door hinge (those are rare but are getting more common). Some manufaters have moved the pin from the hinge area over to where the door stryker is (the "B" pillar) and have started using the "soild state" conecters. With your model, it being a convertable, I would suspect it is the later, The connecter is in the "B" pillar and is the "soild state" one. look for 3-4 brass round pins. I would suspect that a trip to the garage is needed. as your BCM (body Control Module)might need to be looked at. I find wiring issues are always the hardest and are always the biggest pain, but if your light is on all the time that is good, as seeing that in is not intermitent, the diaganois will be easier to find, as the wire that is causing your lights to stay on will always be "hot". it is just a matter of finding it and following it to the source. Sorry about not being clearer in my first post. I hope this helps.
