Could be. Problem is the weight, the electronic gizmos that will slow you down/try to take the fun out of it, and the auto transmission. It's not impossible...but then again, the art of drifting is really about the grassroots movement. Getting a car you wont mind seeing tag a wall, rock, or barrier. Like a 240sx, RX7, rwd Corolla. I wouldnt want to drift a $80k car.

The power is good but the problem is the tourqe, the New M5's dont have too much and for drifting ur not gonna get the same fun like u would in an M3

Unfortunately you're talking about the wrong M5. Get an E34 - it's way more fun than the gay-shifter equipped E60 and way cheaper than the E39. Drift is super easy cause the back end just loves to be left loose and my E34 had 315hp and a 5-spd that was more than enough for drifting. NOt only that, the E34 has much cheaper 17" 235 tyres as standard, soyou can get cheap ones from Indonesia and discard with no loss and immense fun.

You have to remove most of the safety futures from the car which will allow you to get the speed but it will also put you at disadvantage because if something brakes down in it the dealer will charge you alot to fix it (if leased or bought out same story) plus you should modify BMW engine. it will need some protection at high REFS. But i would get a 240sx or old Mazda RX-7 turbo 2 the roaderry engine is good for drifting. But still its your choice damaging the M5 or spending some money and not worrying
