Question type: Maintenance & Repair

For the last few weeks my car has been acting strangely but only after it is warmed up.  I have an automatic transmission and it drives fine, shifts fine into reverse and drive except for after it has been running for a while.  If I stop for any reason and then put the car into reverse it is fine, but if I put it into drive it lunges violently, rpms go way down almost to zero and then it goes into gear and runs fine.  But it only happens after it is warmed up and only into drive.  Why doesn't this happen when the car is cold too?  It shifts fine then into drive.  What is this?  HELP!!
