-- FYI, for those who don't know, Airtrek was the original Japanese name for the Outlander -- No difference in the block, just the level of tune. The 4g63 is Mitsubishi's standard issue 2.0L boxer 4 engine. I believe there were 2 or 3 generations of the motor, and it was used in lots of cars, including the Eclipse and 3000GT (GTO) as well as the EVO and Outlander. The "T" at the end of the engine code stands for "turbocharged," since not all versions of the motor came with forced induction. If I recall, I don't think the original Airtrek was turbo'd, but I could be wrong. In any case, all cars that come with the 4g63t have the same block, they're just tuned differently (compressions ratio, air/fuel mapping, slightly modified internals, etc). As for specific differences between the Airtrek and EVO engines, I couldn't tell you for sure.

cory, yes in the states it is known as the outlander and there is a turbo version but that is only for JDMs.The most important thing for me is to know whether the block and cyclinder head is the same. Thanks for the helpful info what i have been searched for is finally answered .

I know the actual block and head are interchangeable, but I would make sure the internals are the same if you're thinking about doing a swap. For instance, if the rods from the Airtrek are thinner than the EVO rods, they might not handle high compression as well. Valve springs are another problem spot. Good luck!
