all depends on what the problem is and how much money you are willing to put into it. the bad news is that your car is in the top 5 list for cars that wont make it to 100,000. Sure they are cute and sporty but they simply wont last long. Range Rover topped the list. Chevy Cruze was behind it

Hi, my yellow light engine symbol showed up on my dash right after I was excellurating on the merge lane to get on the freeway. Instantly I lost power, not totally. I looked it up it could be spark plugs, vacuum hose, emission hose I think, catlike converter ( I pray not). Anyways my question is... Is it best to go to a local privately owned import dealer opposed to going to the Mini dealership/service department which I normally go to to have it looked at? After reading on this blog how dealerships mark up parts and labor insanely I thought I should ask before the tow truck gets here tomorrow to take my car to either of the two places mentioned above. Thanks fir any advice!
Read reviews and talk to other Mini drivers.

Thank you for the response. I didn’t know they were on the top 5 bad list. Well, the good news...it’s paid for and I do love driving it.
Who is that idiot Randy making all the pointless remarks
Who paid you to make a remark of such nonsense? Go to look at Scott Kilmer video on YouTube. He has a list of 5 cars that are just terrible.
