if we back away from the thousands of questions out there every day about my car does not run.we should ask our selves is there something wrong with the way our cars are made

Not really. Cars do hundreds of thousands of miles and things wear out. People don't maintain their cars and a lot of people never open the hoods until the car won't start. The modern electronics are excessively complicated but that is the way it is.

Even if cars were built to last a million miles they would still need a lot of maintenance and repairs. The cars would cost 5x as much but they would be built with heavier duty parts which would also cost a lot more. I do wonder what you could accomplish by spending a couple of extra thousand bucks in terms of longevity.
