My Pontiac Grand Am is stuck in park and I can't move it out. Is there a way to fix it without having to buy all new bits and pieces?

You can't move the shifter out of Park, or you can move it but the car doesn't want to move?

Chances are you have 1 of 2 things that have failed. Two components which allow the shifter to move out of park is a break pedal switch and a solenoid that resides in the shifting mechanism inside the console. Either way, there will need to be troubleshooting performed to find out the exact problem.

if your shifter moves like it is sliding freely to drive... your shift linkage is broken. if the shifter feels stuck, the solenoid is in need of service.
