If taking care not to turn the brights on when you reach to turn the turn signals on does not cure this for you, you may need the switch on the column (dir signal stalk) replaced. By the way, I aplaud you for being one of the minority that actually uses this device.

taver, are we talking about the air freshener holder on the left side of the steering column?
