TCC solenoid, idle control sensor, fuel filter, or temp sensor; Which should I be concerned with and consider replacing?
The car is a 2.0L, 4cyl Pontiac Sunbird. The car handles poorly when coming off of high
speeds on high temp days.It eventually stalls at low speed or when stopped. When
restarting it idles fine but stalls in gear. It restarts and drives when left to sit appx. 15
minutes. Any Suggestions?
yes. replace all black butyl rubber vacuum hoses with silicone ones (the kind that BMW and police cruisers use) will find them at summit racing and even advance auto sells gates silicone~
these have gotten old and crusty and crackin', suckin' air and playin' hell with performance...in my experience will run lean and hot and not idle correctly...it's just vacuum, man~
they are available from many places and in a variety of colors~....but more expensive, but....you will only have to do this job once~
I'll check the vacuum thanks. Judge_roy, what do you know and think of the TCC solenoid? How difficult is it to get to and replace. What would the symptoms be for this piece?

I had this same problem which turned out to be a faulty distributor . Previously just about everything had been replaced and still no change and no codes were being set either . I finally decided to pull the distributor and check the resistance to see if it was within specifications which it wasn't . So I got one online for less than a hundred dollars rebuilt and after that no problems. Unfortunately those early on board diagnostics or OBD were crap . I had inherited my 91 Sunbird from my late brother who had numerous problems with it and was getting ripped off by the mechanics who couldn't figure it out so I decided to go and do my own work on it . Now it behaves as it should and is a really fun car to drive . In this case it was the coul windings on the distributor and not the ignition module . This part gets cooked over time and the pick up coil breaks down causing intermittent problems that are a pain to track down . I realize this is an older post but hope this helps anyone else who might be having this issue .
