we replaced a broken cable from the shifter to the transmition and now the car want crank,,pontaic sunfire

Is it an automatic. There will be a postion switch on the tranny. If you didn't index the shifter in the car and the shaft on the tranny to the same points when doing the swap you may not be in P or N on the tranny when your shifter says you are. Or you bumped the wiring.

it turns over so i think maybe the wiring,,will check ,,thanks! its in park?

OK. It turns over but won't fire!! Since you were digging around the top of the tranny I would check the wiring to the sensors on the throttle body, The IAC valve would do this for sure.
