SPEED ODOMETER goes crazy 2001 Pontiac sun-fire 180miles

when i accelerate the speed odometer goes up and down jerking all over then  it will
stop for a second or two then starts jerking from 0 tp 60 and every where between and
it also feels like it is sliping or shifting out of gear , i bought it and 2 days later i
charged the air conditioner then about 2 more days went by and it started overheating i
had it checked and the motor for the fan had went out so i replaced it then about 24
hrs later this odometer problem

Same speedometer problem here... Are ur abs/trac and service lights on? I'm gonna check my spped sensors at the wheel's and I believe there is one on the trans as well. I'll post back if any fix the problem

hi buck i had my pontiac towed to an auto shop i will let you know what they say and no other lights stay on just the crazy speedometer and trans slipping .

Found out it was my output shaft speed sensor located on the back of my trans on the passenger side cost was about $15-$20 and took me five minutes to change. I don't think your trans was slipping it was just randomly shifting because of a false reading from the speedometer and the sensor. Mine felt like a slipping trans as well until I unplugged the sensor then it shifted fine
