how do i safely clean my battery cables

The battery Cables? Thats kinda vauge. lol. If your refering to the metal clamps that attach to the terminal posts on the battery, theres a few different ways. All are easy. Start by disconnecting the cables from the battery posts. First and most simple, use a wire or stiff brush (not your toothbrush, lol), and get all the large chunks of corrosion if there are any. Then use some sort of base to neturalize them. Theres battery terminal foams/sprays that are sold at auto parts stores, but if you don't feel like doing that, pour some hott coffee on the cables, or dip them in a cup of it for a few minutes. Then use regular distilled water to get rid of the coffee, then dry them up and re-attach. You can go an extra step and by a can of spray on anti- corrosion sealer if you want too. Hope that helps!
