The radiator cap may be leaking or you may have a vacuum leak. Hopefully it's just the radiator cap.
but the radiator cap leaking shouldnt make it run hot but someone told me since we can only drive at 15 mph anyway to put it in 4 low and then put it in 3rd gear so the motor does less work. he has the same jeep and says if he goes 4 high his will heat up too.
do you have an electric fan or belt driven? if its electric it may not be working properly, and that would cause your engine to heat up very quickly.
im pretty sure its electric. it only heats up on the beach. doesnt do it on the road at all
well, im assuming it sits at idle on the beach. and it doesnt sit at idle on the road because its moving. when moving the fan isnt used because air is forced through the radiator without it. at idle there isnt any air moving and the engine cannot cool itself. try letting it run in your driveway and see if the same issue arises. it may be one of two issues. the fan motor itself is blown. or the temperature switch by the thermostat. the motor alone will cost about $100 and the switch is $15-20.
check to see if your water pump is leaking and chang your thermostat,go with a 180 degre.
its not when sitting still. i get a little ways down the beach and just gets hotter. as soon as i get to where i park and hang out i shut it off. it has a new water pump and doesnt get hot at any other time. hopefully what the other guy told me about running it in 4l will work. thank everyone
i change the head of the motor & gasket , and still heatover and no heat from the heater
