Asked by GuruD6NDP Sep 19, 2017 at 06:49 PM about the Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Jeep randomly stalls and shut down when i go
to brake approaching a light and has stalled while
going in reverse out of a parking spot without
touching the pedals. It seems to only do it when im
going under 10 mph. And does it without warning
and only does it randomly not every day. No one
has been able to know why since its random. Any
one have any ideas of what is could be?

I don't know what year your Jeep is,but it sounds like your lock up torque converter is randomly engaging and stalling the engine. This is a common problem when the lock up torque converter begins to fail internally.

It just helps to narrow it down more. Your Jeep definitely has a lock up torque converter based on the year. So my answer is still the same. Sorry about the bad news. Hope this helps you though.
