Is 65,000 miles excessive for a 2007 XC70?

No, average is 15 k a year now, which would be 65k.
No. Volvos go a long time. With the 2013 coming out in a month, 65,000 would be only 11,000 miles a year. Be sure to have the 4/all wheel drive system checked out though. Repairing it can be VERY expensive.
Thanks All! I'm considering a 2012 Volvo S60 with 20,000 miles and a clean CARFAX report. It was used as rental and I understand these can be well cared for. I was hoping for a wagon, but this model is considered the safest vehicle of 2012. Thoughts?
You cannot go wrong with an S60. They are built to last for many years, and will keep you very safe along your journey. Buying a late-model, low-mileage used vehicle has tremendous cost benefits, especially if you acquire the vehicle with a certified warranty. Volvo dealer rates are very high, so you can save even more if you know a good mechanic. Good luck to you!
Thank you, Eitan! I really appreciate your knowledgeable, articulate feedback. It's very, very helpful.
