why wont my transmission go in 2 n 3 by its self????

my transmission dont want shift in 2 and 3 gear without me takeing my foot off the gas
then sometime it get stuckand wont shift i have to stop turn the car off then start it back
the it go. sometime it dont get right then if i kept trying it my car run hot

There's a sensor that 'tells' the transmission the speed of the vehicle. I had the $138 part replaced for about $100 labor. Problem solved.

So does a check light engine come on and there's a sensor code for that issue?
